Hi there! Welcome to airss, the intelligent RSS reader that learns what you love. I want to assure you that your privacy is paramount, and I'll explain exactly how I handle your information.
airss is designed with privacy at its core. Unlike most apps, airss doesn't require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information. You can start using the app immediately, completely anonymously.
All of your data—your RSS channel subscriptions, reading preferences, article ratings, and machine learning models—is stored locally on your device. I don't collect, track, or have access to any of this information. Your reading habits are yours and yours alone.
To ensure you never miss an article, airss uses a server (api.andrecallus.com) as a proxy to download articles from your subscribed channels. RSS feeds typically only include the 10-20 most recent articles, which means if you don't check frequently, you could miss content. The server keeps track of all articles so that even if you're away for a while, you'll still get everything when you return.
The server does collect one piece of aggregated, non-personal information: it counts how many times each RSS feed is requested across all users. This data may be used in the future to provide a "Popular Feeds" feature, helping users discover feeds that others find interesting. This is completely anonymous—the server doesn't know who is subscribing to which feeds, only how many total requests each feed receives.
Here's what the server does NOT do:
The server simply receives requests for RSS feed URLs, fetches the content from those URLs, and returns the articles to your device. That's it. All the intelligence—the machine learning, personalization, and recommendations—happens entirely on your device.
airss uses on-device machine learning to learn your preferences and recommend articles you'll enjoy. All training data, models, and predictions stay on your device. I never see your ratings, preferences, or reading patterns.
airss may request permission to send you notifications. This is entirely optional and allows the app to alert you when new articles arrive or remind you about saved articles. You can adjust notification preferences in the app or your device settings at any time.
All your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Your data may sync across your devices using iCloud if you have iCloud enabled, but this is entirely within Apple's ecosystem—I don't have access to your iCloud data.
Importantly, there is no storage on my server. The server doesn't store your subscriptions, preferences, or any personal information. If you delete airss from your device (and iCloud if applicable), all your data is gone. There's no account to delete—because there never was one to begin with.
airss displays content from RSS feeds that you choose to subscribe to. I'm not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of articles from third-party publishers. When you open articles in Safari or other browsers, those websites may have their own tracking and privacy policies.
airss is intended for users aged 13 and older. Since I don't collect any information, I can't verify ages, but I trust you to use the app responsibly.
I don't use analytics tools, crash reporters, or any third-party tracking services. If something breaks, I won't know unless you tell me. That's a trade-off I'm willing to make for your privacy.
If you encounter issues or want to provide feedback, you can email me at [email protected]. When you do, I'll only see what you choose to include in your email. I won't automatically collect device information, logs, or any other data unless you explicitly provide it.
While the server doesn't track individual users, I do monitor overall usage to prevent abuse and ensure the service remains available for everyone. Please don't attempt to overwhelm the server with excessive requests or use the service in ways that could harm its availability for other users.
I may update this privacy policy from time to time. If I make significant changes, I'll notify you through the app or on my website. Your continued use of airss after such changes means you accept the updated policy.
I hope you find airss useful and trustworthy. If you have any questions or concerns about this privacy policy, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for choosing airss!
